Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Lizzy McManus is a Bermudian Clinical Psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She has spent several years working in the UK, supporting children and teenagers with a wide range of emotional, social, and mental health challenges. Lizzy is now excited to bring her experience and skills back to Bermuda as part of the Solstice team.

Lizzy previously worked in specialist settings with adolescents who experienced significant early life trauma, including those struggling in mainstream schools or at risk of involvement with the criminal justice system. In these roles, she collaborated with families, teachers, and other professionals to provide holistic, trauma-informed care that helps young people feel understood, supported, and empowered.

In addition to her expertise with young people, Lizzy has extensive experience working with individuals of all ages struggling with substance abuse. She provides a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients to explore their challenges and work toward meaningful recovery—an area of her practice she finds deeply rewarding.

Lizzy’s therapeutic style is warm and collaborative, integrating Systemic Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She is strongly influenced by attachment theory and Trauma Systems Therapy, emphasizing the importance of trust, connection, and the role of community in fostering positive change.

Passionate about working with parents and families, Lizzy is trained in Non-Violent Resistance (NVR), a parenting approach that supports caregivers in managing challenging behaviors like aggression or risk-taking. She is also a Theraplay®-informed practitioner, offering play-based, dyadic therapy that strengthens the bond between parents and young children, building trust, confidence, and joy in their relationships.

Although Lizzy specializes in working with teenagers and families, she enjoys supporting individuals of all ages. At Solstice, she is committed to providing compassionate, holistic care that helps clients build resilience, heal from challenges, and move forward with strength and confidence.
